Classic Strawberry shortcakes
Ingredients
Strawberries, ¼ sugar, 2 ⅓ cup all purpose bisquick baking mix or plain flour
½ cup milk, 3 tablespoon sugar, 3 tablespoon butter or melted margarine
½ cup whipping cream
- Heat oven to 425℉, in a large bowl mix strawberries and ¼ cup of sugar, set aside.
- Make biscuits, in a medium bowl stir bisquick mix, milk, 3 tablespoon sugar and melted butter until soft dough forms on ungreased cookie sheets, drop dough by 6 spoonfuls. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, beat whipping cream with electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form
Assemble split warm shortcakes, fill the top with strawberries and whipped cream
If you don’t have pancake and baking mix you can use regular flour.
You can make different varieties of shortcakes for orange shortcake just add, 2 tablespoon of orange juice to the mix
Add fresh chunk of orange on top
For pineapple add (2) tablespoon of pineapple juice
For apple shortcake add (2) tablespoon of apple juice & add fresh sliced apples on top
For strawberry shortcake, can also use strawberry flour cake mix
Add fresh strawberries on top.
