Scotch Eggs
Ingredients
6 large eggs, sausage meat
Veg oil for frying
Chicken seasoning cubes or aromat
Black pepper, thyme, cayenne pepper or smoked paprika, onion powder, plain flour, bread crumbs, nutmeg.
Directions:
-Boil 6 large eggs, when cooked, peel and set aside
-Mix the sausage meat with thyme, black pepper, cayenne pepper, aromat, onion powder, nutmeg and set aside.
Break an eggs into a bowl and whisk
- In another bowl add some some plain flour
- In a separate bowl add your bread crumbs
- Now coat a boiled egg in flour
- Scoop some sausage meat into a flat surface, flatten the sausage meat
- Add your flour coated egg in the middle of your flattened sausage and mould into a round shape
- Using your two palms, gently wrap the meat around the egg, make sure the egg is fully covered.
- Continue to gently mold the egg covered sausage between your palms, until you get a well rounded shape
Another method : is to get a clear film on a flat surface
- Scoop some sausage meat on the clear film and flatten
- Add your flour coated egg in the middle
- Wrap the clear film around tighthy around the sausage & eggs and twist the film, until you achieve a round shape
- Continue to mold, until you get the desired well rounded shape
- Gently unwrap your clear film
- Now dip your well rounded egg covered with sausage into the bowl of plain flour
- Make sure to coat all over with flour
- Next step is to dip into the egg mixture,
- Lastly transfer into the breadcrumbs bowl and roll all over
- Repeat these steps for all the remaining eggs and set aside
- In a deep frying pan, oven a medium heat, add your veg oil,
- Fry the scotch eggs on both sides until golden brown
Alternatively for oven bake
- Set your oven to 375℉,
- Place your scotch eggs on a tray
- Bake for 20-25 min until golden brown
