Yam
Yam is very popular in Nigeria and other parts of Africa. It requires very few ingredients. You can boil yam and eat it with fried eggs or fried stew
It can be roasted, it can also be made into pounded yam, you can also add some sauce to turn it into yam porridge. See check out my recipe on yam porridge
Ingredients
Yam-Tuber
Water
Salt
Sugar (optional)
Directions In a plastic bowl have some water ready using a sharp knife cut the yam tuber into 1-2 inches round slices
- Now using a smaller, knife with some precision
- Strat peeling the skin off, do this for the whole circumference
- Add your peeled slice into your bowl of cold water to avoid discoloration
- Repeat this for all the remaining slices
- Rinse under running water until your water becomes clear
- Transfer to your cooking pot and add enough water to cover the yam, add salt.
- Add sugar (optional)
- Cook on medium heat for 30-45 minutes or until becomes soft
- Once cooked drain out excess water to avoid sogginess
- Serve hot and enjoy
- This can be served with egg sauces, fried stew.
